Building a Custom Home in Ellijay, GA

Every home begins before the walls, before the framing, before anything recognizable takes shape. What’s happening now on this site won’t be the most photographed phase of the project, but it is the one everything depends on.

This build is just getting underway, and the current focus is the foundation and footings. It is not flashy work. It does not trend well on social media. But it is where decisions, precision, and experience matter most, because nothing later can outperform what happens here.

A Plan Reimagined

BAC has built this home design before, but this version has been modified to meet the needs of the current homeowners and respond to the property. This is not repetition, it is refinement. A basement has been added to increase usable space, functional areas such as the workshop and workout room have been expanded, and the layout has been adjusted to support daily routines and long-term comfort. These intentional changes highlight what it truly means for a home to be custom.

Main-Level Living Designed for Daily Use

The main level is the heart of the home, designed for connection, movement, and function. Kitchen, living, and dining spaces work together to support both daily life and entertaining. Support spaces like the pantry and laundry are tucked away but accessible, creating efficiency without intruding on living areas. The primary suite serves as a retreat, with the sunroom extending the space and connecting it to nature. Secondary bedrooms offer privacy, each with its own bath. Porches and the covered deck are positioned to maximize views of the creek on the property, integrating indoor and outdoor living with flow and purpose.

The Basement as a Functional Extension

Rather than an afterthought, the basement is fully integrated into the home’s design. It provides practical spaces such as a garage and workshop, storage and utility areas planned for efficiency, and dedicated spaces for guests, fitness, and entertainment. Every element of the basement is tailored to how the homeowners will live, work, and unwind, creating a functional extension of the main level rather than a separate, disconnected area.

Built for the Property

Orientation and site considerations guided every design decision. Views of the creek, natural light, and outdoor connections were central to the layout. Room placement and circulation were planned to take advantage of the landscape, ensuring that the home responds to its surroundings as much as it supports the family’s lifestyle. This project is grounded in Ellijay, not just in square footage.

The Beginning of the Build

Currently, the foundation is being poured, and the structure is beginning to take shape. This marks the start of a process that will be documented step by step, revealing how a home that is both functional and personalized comes together. The foundation sets the tone for everything that follows, and as the project moves forward, each update will show how careful planning and thoughtful design create a home built to last.
